Mountain Community Yoga (MCY) has been created to make yoga, meditation, fitness, wellness, and mind-body practices affordable and accessible to everyone in our mountain towns.

 

The reach of MCY will go well beyond the traditional benefits of mind-body practices and exercise. The goal is to create a safe place to focus on healthy living in mind, body, and heart. In forming this CommUnity, we want to foster a deeper appreciation and awareness of who we are as a whole and how together, we can succeed and thrive. 

 

The experience and talent of our teachers allows us to offer programs that address the challenging issues of our lives and, at the same time, create a place of quiet and reflection. Our intention is to assist all people in the development of physical, mental, and spiritual well-being: a truly priceless existence.

 

Teachers

Cindy Gogan

Cindy has many years of education and experience in understanding the mind, body, and soul connection.  Cindy began her career as a massage therapist then earned a Master's Degree in Counseling and Psychology to deepen her knowledge of the mind and body connection.   She later received a PhD in Metaphysical Counseling to bring in the spiritual component into her practice.  Cindy teaches Restorative Yoga and Kundalini Yoga often incorporating aromatherapy and Reiki into classes.     

Paula Pelkey

As a 500-hour ERYT Paula has trained in and teaches many different styles of yoga; from powerful vinyasa practices to meditative form classes to prenatal and kids’ yoga. She has been teaching for 15 years and has taught in Massachusetts, Colorado, Maryland, Utah and Vermont.  Guiding eclectic classes that pull from the many varied lineages of yoga is her forte!  You’ll never get the same class experience twice with Paula. 

 

Yoga has helped Paula maintain her sense of self after having children, yoga has supported her during stressful life events and yoga has provided peace in her daily life. Find the balance between effort and ease with Paula during your time on your mat. 

When off the mat Paula loves to be outside.  You can find her on the mountain skiing, hiking with her dogs or exploring the natural world with her two daughters. 

Teri Andersen

Teri Andersen earned her 200 hour certification in Hip Hop Yoga Dance through Honest Yoga Center and B-tru Dance Center in South Burlington. Hip Hop Yoga Dance is a unique expression that blends her two favorite movement types - Dance and Yoga Asana (postures). Teri began dance training at age three, which led her to pursue creativity in many areas of her life. Teri has been teaching art in schools for nearly twenty years. She is also an avid runner who enjoys bringing her movement outdoors. Teri holds a certification in children’s yoga through Kidding Around Yoga. Teri's goal is for all her students to find strength, confidence, and joy in their own creative expression whether it is in the art room, yoga studio or a dance floor. 

Mary-Dana Bentley

After completing her P.E. (Physical Education) degree at Endicott College, Mary-Dana began her fitness teaching career in Montpelier where she taught step aerobics and boot camp interval training classes. She moved to our mountain area to work as a community manager at Stratton, in addition to teaching step aerobics and spin classes at the sports center for several years. Due to knee injuries, she gave up running, tennis and all high-impact sports. She now focuses on stretching and strengthening to follow her passion for horseback riding. Mary-Dana is an avid rider who competes in hunter jumper shows throughout New England during the summer. Mary-Dana lives in Londonderry with husband Bob, 2 dogs and 3 horses. She loves snow shoeing and hiking with her labs on Magic Mountain trails. You can often find her waiting tables at the New American Grill and enjoying conversations with her dedicated customers.

Dani Granaroli

Dani recently completed her 200 hour yoga teacher training along with Zumba teacher training.  Her yoga classes are thoughtfully planned and focus on whole body health.  Dani teaches Zumba with zest for movement and fun. 
 

Kate Logan

Native Vermonter, Mama of three, dedicated yogini and teaching since 2002, Kate Logan completed teacher training's with Godfrey Deveroux and Shiva Rea and continues to study with master teachers (always a student first and teacher second). Kate's thoughtful and elegantly designed classes are heartfelt, fluent, nourishing and supportive for mind, body, and spirit. Kate is also a graduate of The Natural Gourmet Cookery in NYC, completed an extensive training course with The International Academy of Ayurveda in Pune, India, and is a doTerra wellness advocate. Kate is grateful and honored to share her love of yoga with our community and how it's practice can make positive shifts in our everyday lives, gently guiding us towards our highest self.

Chris Pujdak

Chris recently completed her 200 hour teacher training at Buddhaful Yoga in Chester, Vermont. She is very excited to get started teaching with chair yoga. 
Her goal is to make yoga available to as many people as possible. She will be guiding students through poses and breath work to gain self-assurance and healthy living practices.

Claudia Dekany

Claudia began her yoga practice in 1989.  She holds a 500ERYT and has been teaching yoga for the pass 25 years.  Her beginning studies were at the Iyengar Institute of San Francisco.  Over the years she has continued her studies with numerous master teachers.  She has developed a gentle hands on approach to help guide you into safe alignment while creating a balance between flexibility and strength.  She hopes, through yoga, to help bring you into a deeper awareness and knowledge of your own body.  Through mindful intention we all have the ability to make physical, spiritual and emotional changes within ourself.  So we can begin to truly appreciate who we are in this wonderful journey of our unique and beautiful lives.

 

So Londonderry has been her home for the pass 24 years.  Along with teaching yoga she owns and operates a garden design and maintenance business.  She loves to be in nature whenever possible, to cook healthy food, create pottery and to write.  Most of all she loves to spend time with her wonderful husband, two beautiful cats, her loving family and amazing friends!

Christina (Henry) McCarthy

Henry has been practicing Hatha & Kripalu-style yoga for twenty years and completed her 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training at Burlington Yoga in 2017 and Mindfulness Training with Tara Brach & Jack Cornfield in 2018. Empowered by many local teachers and playful healers, she has most recently been focused and inspired by the deep, intimate practice of Yin and Restorative Yoga. Henry brings with her experience in many trades as a waitress, professional baker, sacred dancer, entrepreneur and a blessed mother of three children in Weston,Vermont where she is inspired by the ever-changing beauty of form and nature. Her classes are thoughtfully infused with articulate asana, unique sequences & authentic compassion.
